As a key stakeholder in the creative industries, CEPIC is deeply concerned with the envisaged alteration of copyright law in the UK which we think is presently perfectly fit for purpose to incentivise licensing agreements between AI providers and rightsholders and to provide a sustainable environment to European innovation and SMEs. CEPIIC's submission provides insight into the challenges faced by the image sector, specifically in relation to the options put forward by the government as well as insights into the on-going process in the EU and experience with opt-out mechanisms for rightsholders.

As the government’s copyright consultation closes, national and regional news brands are uniting to urge the public to take action, calling on policymakers to uphold strong copyright protections and ensure fair compensation for creators.

Authenticity Working Group created

Tools such as deepfakes, AI-generated content and automated bots can create highly realistic but fabricated information that can easily mislead people. This makes authenticity more important than ever CEPIC has recently created a working group around the concept of authenticity. What is authenticity in the visual medium and what are the rules for its application? The working group's recommendations will be presented at CEPIC 2025 in Juan les Pins in May.
