This year, AFP will actively participate in the CEPIC congress, the European association of image professionals, as well as the spring congress of the IPTC, creator of a metadata standard for the press. The two events will be held jointly from May 12 to 16, 2025, in Antibes.
At CEPIC 2025 , AFP will present its projects for the traceability of photo content, its positions in terms of usage rights and will return to its participation in working groups on transparency and the reliability of sources, particularly crucial subjects since the advent of generative image artificial intelligence tools.
On May 12, Eric Baradat , AFP's deputy director of information for photography, will open CEPIC 2025 with a speech on the front line between disinformation and image verification work, and ways to regain user trust in the face of AI, before participating in a discussion on the same themes.
The following day, Christophe Walter-Petit , the Agency's legal director, will be the guest of a discussion that will explore the possibilities and legal issues of B2C image markets, geared towards consumers.
In recent months, Isabelle Wirth , European Media Project Manager, has represented AFP and hubs of the EDMO network for combating disinformation in a CEPIC working group on image authenticity. The group will present its findings at an open discussion on May 13. The following day, Isabelle Wirth will participate in a discussion on the protection of archive images.
AFP will also send a delegation from its Information Systems Department (DSI) to the IPTC Spring Congress , which will take over from CEPIC, from May 14 to 16.
