The News/Media Alliance (NMA) has partnered with Bria to launch a new opt-in AI licensing agreement that allows publishers to be compensated for the use of their content in AI systems. Designed to create a more sustainable model for the industry, the agreement introduces a revenue-sharing framework where publishers receive ongoing income based on how their content is used in AI-generated outputs.
At the core of the partnership is Bria’s proprietary attribution technology, which ensures that every piece of licensed content used in AI responses is tracked and credited, enabling transparent compensation for rights holders. The initiative also supports the development of a new Bria product focused on delivering reliable, high-quality AI outputs grounded in trusted publisher content, reinforcing the value of authorised data in improving AI performance.
This agreement reflects a broader shift towards responsible AI development, where fair attribution, licensing, and transparency are becoming central to how content is used at scale, particularly for applications such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). It also opens the door for smaller publishers to participate in AI licensing opportunities without the need for complex, individual negotiations.
As a CEPIC member, Bria continues to play an active role in shaping the future of AI and content licensing. The company will be attending CEPIC 2026, where Chief AI Strategy Officer Vered Horesh will be speaking on a panel, sharing further insights into attribution, licensing, and the evolving AI ecosystem.
