MEDIA-IDENT Group GmbH today announced its end-to-end image protection workflow for stock and press agencies. It combines SOURCE-IDENT, an invisible digital watermarking platform, with COPY-IDENT, a platform for image monitoring, match documentation, and case management.
Together, the products cover the process from image distribution and traceability to web monitoring, rights review, and, where appropriate, compensation recovery and legal enforcement.
Watermarking helps agencies trace distributed image files. Monitoring identifies where those images appear online. The combined workflow connects these technical functions with licensing review and legal enforcement while allowing agencies to retain control over their images.
SOURCE-IDENT can embed an individualised, invisible watermark into an image during distribution. The watermark is designed to remain detectable after common modifications such as resizing, cropping, format conversion, and compression, depending on the nature and extent of the modification.
The watermark identifier can be linked to the relevant distribution record, allowing the agency to trace the corresponding file and distribution channel.
COPY-IDENT monitors the publicly accessible web for image matches and documents detected uses. Matches selected for review are checked against the available licensing and rights information.
The customer decides which images are monitored and which matters may be submitted for further action. Review and out-of-court recovery are handled by our enforcement entity (RD Legal GmbH). Where local legal representation or court proceedings are required, matters may be transferred to a qualified partner law firm in the relevant jurisdiction.
Recovery services are provided without upfront enforcement fees and on a success-based basis.

The workflow is available to stock libraries, press agencies, and image distributors/photographers with different catalogue sizes and distribution models.
