Jean-Louis Courtinat, awarded a Visa d'Or at the International Photojournalism Festival 2025

For 40 years, Jean-Louis Courtinat has been photographing the intimate lives of excluded, forgotten, and vulnerable people. An immersive photographer, he approaches his subjects without pathos or voyeurism, but with deep empathy. His immense body of work was recently awarded a Visa d'Or at the International Photojournalism Festival, Visa pour l'Image 2025 in Perpignan. It has been distributed exclusively by the Roger-Viollet agency since 2021.

"For over thirty years, Jean-Louis Courtinat has been developing a unique collection exclusively devoted to social photography. As a militant photographer, he bases his work on a true solidarity purpose. He is an emotional person who has empathy for the people whom he photographs. There is no pathos in his images, no complacency, but a deep solidarity." Robert Delpire, 2013.

Jean-Louis Courtinat has been exclusively distributed by the Roger-Viollet photo agency since 2021. You can view his images on the Roger-Viollet website.
