The first "Stakeholder Dialogue" on the implementation of Art.17 of the EU Copyright Directive took place in Brussels on 15 October 2019.
The objective of the dialogue is to hear stakeholders' views and to discuss possible practical solutions for the application of Article Article 17 - former article 13 - is the most famous article of the EU Copyright Directive. It concerns the liability of online platforms regarding up-loaded content. It obliges platforms in the absence of license agreements with relevant rights holders to make sure that unauthorized content is kept down. In practice, this would involve amongst other means the use of content recognition technology or other relevant technology.
