CEPIC will be strongly represented in Perpignan this year as the international photojournalism community gathers for Visa pour l’Image 2026, with members of the CEPIC team attending throughout the opening week.
The week begins with the first Convention du Photojournalisme, taking place on Monday 31 August 2026, on the opening day of Visa pour l’Image.
Created as a space for action, discussion and concrete proposals, this new convention will bring together photojournalists, agencies, academics, legal experts and other industry professionals to examine some of the most pressing challenges facing photojournalism today, from increasingly precarious working conditions and changing distribution models to artificial intelligence, image authenticity, licensing and remuneration.
CEPIC Vice President Philippe François, Chief Imagery at Belga News Agency, will represent CEPIC during the Convention.
Philippe will deliver the keynote for the third round table of the day, “AI and the transformation of the press image ecosystem”, taking place from 14:00–15:15.
The session will explore how automation and generative AI are reshaping the value of photographic evidence and the wider press image ecosystem, bringing perspectives from agencies, picture editors and technology specialists. Discussions will look towards future standards for certification, traceability and the ethical distribution of images.
Philippe will then join the panel discussion alongside representatives from Hans Lucas, Les Echos and Geo France, moderated by Sylvaine Lecoeur of PixWays.
These are issues at the heart of CEPIC's ongoing work: protecting the value and integrity of professional visual content while helping the industry navigate the profound changes being brought about by AI.
And Philippe won't be the only familiar CEPIC face in Perpignan. Gilles Devicq, CEPIC President, and Sylvie Fodor, CEPIC Executive Director, will be at Visa pour l’Image from 2–5 September, alongside Petar Glebov, CEPIC Board Member and Managing Director of PIXSELL.
There will be a great CEPIC crowd in Perpignan this year, and plenty of opportunities to meet, catch up and talk about what is happening across the visual media industry. The CEPIC team will also be attending a number of industry events during the week, including two events hosted by AFP, one of which will focus on the new partnership between AFP and Getty Images.
If you're heading to Visa pour l’Image this year, come and find us. Whether you're a CEPIC member, industry partner or simply interested in learning more about CEPIC and our work, we'd be very happy to meet you in Perpignan.
