The next CEPIC webinar will take place on 16th February and will deal with cultural heritage images.
Open data policies and legislations have brought a number of challenges to cultural heritage libraries: loss of control with potential rights issues, loss of opportunities for profit from the right of reproduction and consequent under-financing of the libraries and collections. Is there a future for cultural heritage? How can such challenges be turned into opportunities? How has the market for cultural heritage and fine arts images evolved in the last ten years? What are the prospects for the next ten years?

Eight years on from the adoption of the Orphan Works Directive, the European Commission has initiated a review of the Directive through a survey on its application. 87 institutions submitted their views.
CEPIC participated in the consultation through a survey submitted in September and an interview held on 02.12.2020.

On 25th September we completed and submitted the online survey for the European Commission study on the review of the application of the Orphan Works Directive (OWD).
CEPIC worked extensively on the subject of "orphan works" between 2011 and 2014.

The European Commission is launching a public consultation to support the digital transformation of the cultural heritage sector. On the one hand, the European Commission is evaluating Recommendation of 27 October 2011 on the digitisation and online accessibility of cultural material and digital preservation to make sure it is still fit for purpose. On the other, the COVID-19 pandemic has made the digital transformation of cultural heritage institutions more relevant than ever.

The deadline for application for EU call DT-TRANSFORMATIONS-12-2018-2020
Deadline was prolonged one week due to Coronavirus crisis.
The proposal to the call was submitted today on 19th March.

Following our call for cultural heritage picture libraries/ historical archives to take part in pilots testing the concept of a Horizon2020 EU funded project proposal, ANTENNA, following picture archives will form a working group:
