At the CEPIC Annual General Meeting on 27th June, one of the decisions had been that CEPIC supports EVA in their negotiations with VEGAP. ON 02nd August, the attached letter has been sent to Carola Streul who is EVA's secretary general.
For a couple of years now AEAPAF has been in negotiation with VEGAP, CMO for visual arts in Spain, to reach a deal on "private copying". While Spain based picture agencies pay a fee to VEGAP for the display of artistic works on their website, they have never benefited in any share of the "private copy" share. In other countries in the EU, deals have been in place for several years. In Spain negotiations have come to a standstill. "VEGAP does not even answer our mails" said Sergi Grino. AEAPAF has therefore turned to CEPIC to support them by writing to EVA and CISAC and pointing to the discriminatory behaviour.
