New draft own-initiative report on COPYRIGHT generative artificial intelligence – opportunities and challenges
Axel VOSS says:
As AI models are increasingly trained on copyrighted content, it's vital that we ensure:
✅ Fair remuneration for creators
✅ Transparency around what content is used
✅ A scalable and workable licensing system
✅ Respect for the rightsholder's choiceCreators and rightsholders must be empowered to decide whether their works are included in training datasets. Opt-outs should be digitally enforceable, which means we need common standards across the EU and beyond.
⚖️ The goal: strike a balance between innovation and rights protection — fostering the development of AI while preserving Europe's cultural and creative sectors.Read the full report here.
