DAMs are the backbone of picture agencies. This is why CEPI is a Silver sponsor of OnDAM Paris to educate DAM professionals about the need to treat the content they process professionally, i.e. ethically.
Although most DAM professionals deal with images every day, they may not be aware of the intricacies of EU and national AI legislation and its compliance implications. They may also be unaware of the various initiatives around ethical AI and CEPIC's central role in this area.
In 2025, CEPIC's Executive Director, Sylvie Fodor, presented the organisation's projects to a large audience of professionals. CEPIC is at the center of a universe of various initiatives ranging from its work on AI legislation to the formation of working groups addressing ethical AI.
Valérie Théveniaud-Violette introduced the various working groups, reflecting both the international and interdisciplinary constituencies of CEPIC. This is why the concept of "authenticity" is so important — what constitutes an "authentic image" will not be the same for a stock agency as for a news agency, for example.
Isabelle Wirth, project manager at AFP, presented how AFP combats disinformation. She focused on the crucial work of AFP fact-checkers and discussed the media literacy tools developed by their partner IDEA, which isa member of the European Digital Media Observatory Hub for Hungary HDMO.
Finally, Mathieu Kervenec, co-founder of TrustMyContent, joined us on the panel to call for action on the joint project, 'Trust My Content'. The project is about Provenance, Labelling and Certification. Professionals can join the initiative and test the products — Visit their website for more information.
