KIM Keywording 2
New tool for photographers and photoagencies: Kursiv just released the second version of their keywording software «KIM Keywording». The software comes as a crossplatform product for Mac and Windows and is specialized on the fast and consistent keywording of huge loads of images.
Among the new features are a multilingual interface (english, dutch, german), a backup-functionality, a simplified data-exchange with external workers – to name a few improvements and enhancements as mentioned by the manufacturer.
KIM Keywording is one of the very few software solutions offering multilingual keywording. The programm supports up to 10 – also non-latin – languages. At its core is a hierarchical keyword database, which works as a controlled vocabulary. The unique context of any keyword within the hierarchy allows to add more languages and to keyword with profound accuracy. Even after the initial keywording it is possible to apply changes of the keyword database back into all already keyworded images. This option is especial valuable for photoagencies and -archives who improve their keywording over time, or for those who want to be able to add more languages later on.
KIM Keywording reads and writes IPTC-data from and to JPG-files. As it is not a filebrowser, but rather a database solution, it does not try to mimic all features of all possible tools, but focusses on one thing: Fast and consistent Keywording. KIM Keywording also is able to read external files with metadata and save the information back into the image files.
Version 2 is a free upgrade to all registered users. A test version can be downloaded from the website of the swiss manufacturer Kursiv
