Creative Content Pivotal to Conversations at PACA's 15th Annual International Conference
Picture Archive Council of America (PACA) brings some key topics to the table for insightful discussions on the impact of photographic imagery in the future of content creation.
The 15th Annual PACA International Conference features a program highlighted by a keynote presentation on "The Impact of the iPad and the Future Use of Content". Every portion of PACA’s menu focuses on how technology changes content consumption, which greatly impacts the present and future of Stock Photography. This year the conference returns to the stylish, historic New York Downtown Marriott from October 15-17, 2010.
Keynote speaker Richard Levine, Vice President of Editorial Operations at Condé Nast, will discuss the future of content. He will talk about how the editorial market consumes and views media after the introduction of the iPad. Levine will address how the new e-reading platform offers magazines significant opportunities to greatly expand and enhance their content; and how his staff adapts in this rapidly evolving environment. Condé Nast launched their Wired application and iPad versions of GQ and Vanity Fair earlier this year.
"Multimedia Storytelling @ MediaStorm", tells the story of how a company utilizes multimedia and the power of still photography to create diverse content that speaks to the heart of the human condition. Brian Storm, Executive Producer at MediaStorm, spent two years as Vice President of News, Multimedia & Assignment Services for Corbis. While there Storm led global strategy for the news, sports, entertainment, and historical collections. MediaStorm has been honored with numerous accolades including four Webby Awards, three Emmy awards, and the first duPont Award for Web-based production.
"Making Ideas Happen" was a book written by featured speaker, Behance Founder/CEO Scott Belsky. He believes the greatest breakthroughs across all industries are a result of creative people and teams that are especially productive. Behance created the Behance Network, which has become the leading online platform for creative professionals. The Network receives more than million visitors every month and has become one of the most efficient platforms for creative professionals to broadcast their work to top agencies, fans, peers, and recruiters.
Social networking has been the topic for quite a while now, but there is still much to be learned as opportunities and technologies change. That is why "How to Harness Social Media to Market Your Business" is sure to be a hit of the Conference. Hear a distinguished panel discuss ways to leverage new media and drive customer acquisition and retention, achieve objectives from a social media strategy and establish your presence.
Other key portions of the weekend program include:
- A lesson from leading experts on how to find and fight privacy will be moderated by PACA Counsel Nancy Wolff
- A well-rounded group of panelists teach means to recognize and overcome the challenges of adding motion to your still imagery portfolio during a session called "Moving into Motion"
- Learn new tools and techniques for remote collaboration including during the Digital Toolbox Session. Get explanations on how to get the most out of digital tools such as shared spreadsheets, presentations, and documents using Google Docs; real-time creative ideation; remote video teleconferencing via Skype; and remote hi-res file sharing using DropBox.
- Understand why your company fails to rank higher in organic search results from Google, Bing, and other search engines. The specialists provide their own insights during an SEO and marketing on the Web session.
A festive Closing Party at The Marquee and fantastic Opening Reception provide ample opportunity to unwind, see some familiar faces and chat face-to-face with LinkedIn contacts, Tweeps and Facebook friends. The “Hub”, a hot-spot for networking and keeping up with the latest industry developments, is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday

About PACA
Founded in 1951, PACA, the Picture Archive Council of America, is the trade organization in North America that represents the interests of stock archives. Through advocacy, education and communication, PACA strives to foster and protect the interests of the media archive community. Accordingly, we work to develop useful business standards and promote ethical business practices; actively advocate copyright protection; collect and disseminate timely information; and take an active role in the media licensing community by building relationships with organizations from related industries.
PACA has just released a brand new search tool called pacaSearch. At a time when creatives are required to do more, in less time, with fewer resources, pacaSearch.com is the answer. This new mega meta-search engine is a dynamic, lightning-fast index of over 70 million licensable stock photos and illustrations. Spanning over 60 stock agencies, included collections range from generalist giants to boutique specialty libraries. What used to take hours or days now takes seconds. And, best of all, it's free. See it for yourself—visit www.pacaSearch.org and watch the short video presentation.
