On 28th October 2010 CEPIC was amongst the 24 stakeholders's organisations selected to speak at the public hearing on the digitization of Europe's cultural heritage.

The Report of the high level Reflection Group on Bringing Europe's Cultural Heritage Online has been made available on 10 January 2011. The Report, called "The New Renaissance", highlights the challenges of digitizing Europe cultural heritage, qualifying Europeana as "probably the most ambitious cultural project ever undertaken at European scale". It puts forward a number of key recommendations to the European Commission in order to boost Europeana and ensure its long term sustainability.

The recommendations will feed into the European Commission's strategy, under the Digital Agenda for Europe, to help cultural institutions digitize and bring their assets on-line for the public

CEPIC's membership includes the major museum libraries and historical archives in Europe. These libraires hold and trade the same material that would be aggregated or held by Europeana. CEPIC's position statement is attached below.
