It’s summer – What are we doing at CEPIC?

Summer afternoon - Summer afternoon... the two most beautiful words in the English language.
Henry James

It has become quieter here in the CEPIC office. The Dublin Congress is behind us. The number of emails per day has been divided by ten, as has the number of calls. We are settling in normal 9 to 5 office times. It’s vacation time as well, with a much needed rest for the staff , but also for the CEPIC Committee and all the volunteers who participate in CEPIC’s success.

Does this mean that nothing is happening? Of course not 1

Consolidation of Congress 2010 finances and statistics, up-date of the website with new features coming soon, new format of the newsletter; investigations of candidate Congress venues for 2011 and 2012 (Valencia or Istanbul); launching of new affiliate membership categories, preparation for events in the fall: visa pour l’image, center of the Image at the Frankfurt bookfair, paca international conference.

Follow-up on lobbying activities are also keeping us busy. We are writing to the European Commission to stress the necessity of a “diligent search” to determine whether a work is orphaned. Sylvie Fodor has joined a working group on consumer issues set up within ICOMP in order to work on issues such as Consumer IPR education and Privacy. In July, we launched a survey on the Future of Press Agencies and hope to get results by visa pour l’image in September!

It will be “la rentrée”. The Summer Truce will be over.
