Those of you who are following the present turbulences at the AFP will love this site.

The Paris-based AFP has been criticized for distorting competition and being at the origin of the desmise of traditional press picture agencies, including SIPA Press. Acquirer of SIPA in July 2011, German DAPD, lodged a complait to the European Commission.

The European Commission says that subscriptions from the French government make up 40 percent of AFP’s revenue. EU regulators question, however, whether these subscription payments to AFP are, in fact, aid in disguise, given that the agency sells similar services to other organizations for far less. And staff rebels in face of losing privileges.

Amongst other document, the site includes the copy of the letter of investigation of the European Commission to the AFP after the complaint of German DAPD who bought SIPA Press in August. The site is available in English, French, German and Spanish.
