Ladislav and Peter Bielik
The photojournalist Ladislav Bielik was born on May 28th 1939 in Levice, Slovakia and died tragically during a car race on March 24th 1984 in Hungary while he was carrying out his duty. He worked as a photojournalist for the daily Smena and the weekly Štart and became a well known photographer of sports events. As a photographer for the daily Smena Bielik made “The bare-chested Man in front of the Occupier’s Tank”, the photograph taken on Šafárik Square in Bratislava which became the symbol of resistance against the act of aggression of the occupation troops of the Warsaw Pact states in the former Czechoslovakia.

Peter Bielik, born 1974, Slovak TV journalist, son of Ladislav Bielik and Alica Bielikova, who has found the original negatives of his father photographs from the occupation of Bratislava. Peter is working as a TV anchor in the Slovak TV news channel TA3. He is the producer of the book Ladislav Bielik August 1968 issued in 2008.

Gilbert Duclos
Gilbert Duclos was born in Montréal, Canada in 1952. He is aprofessional photographer since 1975, working mainly in thepublishing field in Canada. For more than twenty years, his artisticpractice has been concerned with a serie of images taken in publicspaces in various cities. In 2005, he made a film " La rue Zoneinterdite " (Off limits) about his experience at the Supreme Courtof Canada on the image rights issue.

Peter Paul Barbara
Born in Rabat in 1967, Peter Paul Barbara started to view photography as an art form and to participate in exhibitions from an early age. He is published both locally and abroad and his work has featured regularly in the UK magazine People in Camera.

An Associate member of both the Royal Photographic Society and the Masters Photographers Association of Great Britain for a number of years, Peter Paul Barbara set up his first one-man exhibition entitled ‘Primordial Engravings’ at the Museum of Fine Arts, Valletta in April 1997.

Locally Barbara received commissions from various advertising agencies, including the Maltese Tourist Board. His field of specialisation, however, remains industrial and editorial photography.  In 2002 he set up his first exhibition abroad, precisely in the foyer of the European Trade Union Confederation Headquarters in Brussels and later at the Malta National Arts Centre, entitled ‘Steel 2001 – The Moulding of s Small Nation’, which opened in Brussels on June 7th, 2002.  Between 2005 and 2006, on behalf of the University of Malta, Peter Paul Barbara co-ordinated the Culture 2000 project, LUCUS, where he was responsible for the production of a photo-digital audio-visual presentation in the form of an eight-minute power-point presentation depicting all the sacred sites participating in the project. He also took part in a photographic exhibition accompanying the project in Spoleto, Italy. Since 2002, Peter Paul Barbara has been teaching Applied Photography for Cultural Heritage as visiting lecturer in the Bachelor degree course in Conservation Studies (B.Cons), run by the University of Malta and ICHMC.

He founded Clearing House Advertising and Publishing Co Ltd in 2005.
