Lietzenburger-Strasse 91"If someone’s going to cannibalize your business, better it be one of your other businesses"
Highlighting the threat for parts of the old core business, but also new possibilities in a shifting market, these words followed the acquisition of a leading microstock company, which marked the official entrance of User Generated Content into the stock photo industry.
Ever since other forms of User Generated Content, like photo communities, citizen photo journalism and photo sharing have attracted attention, most recently even totally free stock photos, raising the question if new forms of copyright, like Creative Commons, can cover all potential pitfalls.
This session is focused on recent trends in this area and how User Generated Content interferes with the business outlook of stock agencies: Is microstock evil? Is the gap between microstock and traditional RF pricing one area where microstock and traditional stock agencies will meet?
Panelists will give brief summaries of their recent activities, followed by specific questions from the moderator and a discussion among the panelists later.
This presentation will be followed by a Question & Answer session with the audience towards the end.
