The Photocentric Day was organised by the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) bringing Photographers and Distributors together for a day of Inspiration and Learning under the motto: Where Does the Content Provider Fit in the New Stock Photography Business Reality?

    Jonathan Torgovnik’s provocative use of intimate environmental portraiture to promote change provides an inspiring reminder of the powerful role photography plays in an increasingly visual world. An award-winning photojournalist, Torgovnik is the author of Bollywood Dreams and Intended Consequences.

    Does the Content Provider Still Need the Traditional Stock Distributor to Make a Profit?
    Speaker: Allen Murabayashi, CEO and Co-Founder of PhotoShelter.
    Allen Murabayashi, discusses alternatives to the traditional photographer–-stock distributor relationship. In a direct and straightforward fashion, Murabayashi takes on the elephant in the room; examining how photographers can leverage technology to license their work directly, the pros and cons of taking on both creator and distributor roles and when to choose one path over the other.

    We all know that the photographer-distributor relationship has changed dramatically in recent years. This moderated panel discussion brought distinguished guests from both sides of the table together for a candid conversation about where the stock industry is today, where it’s going and how we can all work together more effectively.
