Those of you who are following the present turbulences at the AFP will love this site.

The Paris-based AFP has been criticized for distorting competition and being at the origin of the desmise of traditional press picture agencies, including SIPA Press. Acquirer of SIPA in July 2011, German DAPD, lodged a complait to the European Commission.

Finding the Author is not a Lost Cause

On 12th October, within the framework of the Frankfurt Bookfair, CEPIC and EVA addressed the issue of Orphan Works.

Cultural heritage institutions scan and digitize their collections to give access to the public. A growing number of images is concerned. Prior authorization is needed but not all rights holders can be tracked.

The legal back ground was explained by prof. Dr. Dreier (KIT). The ARROW tool, a network supporting the search, was demonstrated by Paola Mazzuchi (ARROW).

Cultural Heritage Reflection Group's report is available

On 28th October 2010 CEPIC was amongst the 24 stakeholders's organisations selected to speak at the public hearing on the digitization of Europe's cultural heritage.

The Report of the high level Reflection Group on Bringing Europe's Cultural Heritage Online has been made available on 10 January 2011. The Report, called "The New Renaissance", highlights the challenges of digitizing Europe cultural heritage, qualifying Europeana as "probably the most ambitious cultural project ever undertaken at European scale".
