European picture agency organisation CEPIC has joined forces with standards body IPTC to produce the CEPIC/IPTC Metadata Handbook which was launched on 20 May 2011 at the CEPIC Congress in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Image Metadata Handbook is available for download as a zip file attached to this article.

In May 2011, CEPIC is celebrating a very special birthday - namely its own.
Coming of age is a very special occasion.
This is 18 years ago, on 8th May 1993 in Berlin, that CEPIC was born - if we consider as birth date the day on the first CEPIC statutes were signed.
The CEPIC Congress, which travels from country to country, has helped it to grow and supports the financing of its activity as an organisation representing the interests of the picture industry. From originally 9 members - remains unchanged - CEPIC has grown to a pan-European international organisation extending its network in 50 countries worldwide.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Arts Center invited CEPIC Members to participate in the first International Forum for Photographic Societies, to be held in Alexandria, 24 March - 5 April 2011. However, due to the latest circumstances happening in Egypt and cancelling all activities.
the BA Arts Center Exhibition Unit will re-arrange its program and inform immediately after fixing a new date for The First International Forum for Photographic Societies (Miniature Photography) exhibition.
This will be a good chance for other societies to participate in the exhibition.

BySylvie FodorFor the first time since CEPIC's foundation, the number of picture agencies represented has decreased.
Although one additional European national association, SAPHIR from France, has joined us this year and the number of Affiliates has remained stable, CEPIC now claims not over a thousand but less than 900 picture sources.
The dramatic loss clearly shows how our industry has been affected by the latest economic crisis, coupled with deep structural changes.

The Affiliate categories within CEPIC have been simplified and extended. We now publish them on our website.
The image industry has been changing a lot in the last ten years with the emergence of new business models. It appeared necessary to rewrite the non-voting membership categories within CEPIC (Affiliates).
- Simplification
There is now only one single category for Single companies, regardless of the geographic location and of the type of imagery. This category includes still and moving images alike.
- Harmonisation
