Next year will be
in Biarritz with a flying visit to
Paris.
Biarritz is a town of 30.000 (swelling
to 100,000 in the summer) located on the south-west coast
of France near the Spanish border, about five hours by train from Paris and
eight flight connection a day.
Biarritz is the oldest sea resort in France and for that matter in
Europe, before Nice, before Cannes and St-Tropez before all the others.
Originally a quaint fishing village, it became fashionable in 1854 when
Empress Eugénie and Napoléon III set up there, soon followed by everyone fom
Edward VII and Queen Victoria of England to Emile Zola and Alexander Dumas.
The town has three good beaches and two casinos. It is the first European
surf destination since 1957 and, thanks to its mild micro-climate all year
round a great hit for golfers as well. In fact, its golf course is also the
oldest in Europe outside England.
With such a good tradition, and San Sebastian 25 kms away,
Biarritz
offers an excellent touristic infrastructure from budget to first class
hotels and access through road, train and flight (three airports access :
Biarritz, San Sebastian, Bordeaux). The Congress Center is only 10 minutes
from the airport and everything is in walking distance.
The CEPIC Committee was warmly welcomed by the Office du Tourisme of
Biarritz and by the Mayor of Biarritz
personally, Mr Borotra. With the active co-operation of the town, we hope to
make our next Congress a very pleasant and prosperous experience.
And for those who have time to holiday,
Biarritz is the gateway to the Pyrenees mountains and the Basque region.
See you next year !
