CEPIC was founded in 1993 to have a
unified representation in light of new legislation emerging from Brussels.
It registered as an EEIG (Economic European Interest Group) in Paris in
1999.
CEPIC has 10 National Member Associations and
approx. 50 Affililate Agencies. As such it now represents over 1,000 picture
agencies and photo libraries in 18 countries across Europe, both within and
outside the European Union. CEPIC's membership includes large and smaller
stock photo libraries, major photo news agencies, art galleries and museums.
CEPIC achieved observer status at
WIPO
(World Intellectual Property Organisation) in 1997. Since 2006 CEPIC is a
member of IPTC and since 2007 of PLUS. It supports the Imagery Alliance in
the USA. Besides
Congress, CEPIC is active in several fields through several working
sub-committees : ITE, legal affairs, technology amogst others.
CEPIC COMMITTEE 2007 - 2009 The CEPIC Committee consists of seven members elected for a period of two years, as representatives of their National Association. President is Alan Smith. |
